The Centre for Renewable Energy Sources and Saving [CRES] has developed, in partnership with our SMARTER Finance for Families partners, a simple but comprehensive Green Homes assessment methodology to recognize the top performing residential projects utilizing sustainable design and construction principles. The information below includes an overview of the program, the assessment criteria and the foreseen benefits for residential investors / developers and financial institutions, by joining the program.

The Green Homes program is designed to provide beneficial financial terms, through collaborating financial institutions, to suitably qualified, prospective residential home buyers / developers interested in buying / developing a residential project that meets a set of sustainability criteria established by the program and locally adapted to the Greek context. The criteria relate to superior quality, comfort, energy-efficiency and other environmental performance aspects.

Following a review by expert professionals, of their sustainability performance, projects that are demonstrated to meet the Green Homes program sustainability criteria will be “endorsed” by CRES through the SMARTER Finance for Families project, being therefore eligible to benefit from the financial institutions improved terms.

The program will be initially tested as a pilot, through an in-house assessment by CRES, within the timeframe of the SMARTER Finance for Families project.
