Promoting sustainable energetic pathways for buses' fleets
Project Duration | 01/01/2006 – 31/12/2008 |
CRES Budget | 152.496,00 € |
Project website | http://www.starbus-project.eu |
Aim of the project was the development of an integrated comparative evaluation methodology of different urban buses (vehicle technology, fuel type, operational characteristics etc) based on energetic, environmental and economical criteria which were determined with a documented methodology which was developed for the project.
The objective of this methodology is to be used as policy tool from decision makers during the purchasing procedure of urban buses. In the framework of the project 12 different energetic pathways of urban buses were examined. The pathways were examined with relevant energetic and environmental indicators which have been collected in a an electronic database aiming at the development of an evaluation software for different bus technologies.
CRES during the STARBUS project collaborated with the Thermal Bus Company of Athens (ETHEL). The environmental performance of ETHEL buses was evaluated in real traffic conditions with the use of special measuring equipment (PAMS)
Results:
Main project deliverable was a dedicated software STARBUS software tool -(STARBUS software tool - http://www.starbus-tool.eu) which can be used from decision makers for purchasing new urban buses with environmental and economic criteria.
