The ENEFIRSTplus project aims to support the key stakeholders to complement the existing resources (from European commission, ENEFIRST project and other projects) for investments in energy infrastructure, energy planning and designing incentives taking into consideration the application of the energy efficiency first (EE1st) principle.
The EE1st principle is defined and endorsed in EU legislation targeting to incorporate into the decision making procedures the analysis of the demand side resources, such as energy efficiency and demand-response similarly to other types of energy resources for energy planning, investment and policy.
The approach of ENEFIRSTplus project is to build on existing methodologies so as to become suitable for the application of the EE1st principle, while they will be comprehensible and easier to be applied by the stakeholders. ENEFIRSTplus project aims to plug EE1st in the cost-benefit methodologies, planning processes and the design of incentives. Plug-ins and guidance will be developed in close cooperation with stakeholders and tested in pilot cases in order to tackle effectively the existing barriers during the application of the EE1s principle.
The ENEFIRSTplus project pursues to test the resources for 8 “real-life” cases in 4 countries and extend the outcomes to 27 MS. Building capacity and stakeholders’ engagement through learning cycles are one of the core components of ENEFIRSTplus project which results in a community of practice. Furthermore, one-stop-shop is developed to provide the most relevant information and resources about EE1st in a single place.
