Theodore N. Kostopoulos is Assistant Professor at the School of Mechanical Engineering at the National Technical University of Athens and Director of the Machine Elements Laboratory. He is a certified electrical and mechanical engineer (N.T.U.A.) with postgraduate and doctoral degrees (George Washington University, Washington DC, USA). He has served as an assistant researcher at the Smithsonian Institution and was an associate researcher at George Washington University on programs funded by the National Science Foundation, NASA and the U.S. Navy. He has worked at the Ministry of Industry and Energy, at a company dealing in metal and wood working machinery, the Greek Public Property Organization, the Defense Industry Office and as a consultant on public and private projects. He is a member of the Greek Technical Chamber, of the Greek Association of Electrical and Mechanical Engineers, the Greek Small Business Society, the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) and the George Washington University Alumni Association. He has served as Alternate President of the School of Mechanical Engineers at the N.T.U.A., member of the Senate of the N.T.U.A., member of committees at the Hellenic National Academic Recognition and Information Center the General Secretariat of Research and Technology, a supervisor and an examination board member for doctoral and certification theses, examiner for the Greek State Scholarship Foundation, etc. He teaches the courses Machine Elements II, Hydraulic and Pneumatic Systems, Machinery Maintenance, and Hydraulic Installations on Ships (2nd part), and has written books on these subjects. He has published papers in scientific journals and in conference proceedings.
