CRES (The Greek Centre for Renewable Energy Sources, www.cres.gr) has an opening for an Early Stage Researcher willing to do a PhD in the field of CFD Modelling of Turbulence and Wakes. The PhD will be directed by the Department of Environmental Physics of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. The project will be focused on the development of an advanced algebraic – stress turbulence model and its integration with a 3D Navier – Stokes code for the prediction of the turbulent velocity field in complex terrain sites and wind farms.
The successful applicant will acquire in depth knowledge on Atmospheric Physics, processing of experimental and simulated data and CFD modeling of turbulent atmospheric fields. There will be a direct cooperation of CRES with the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens.

Profile of candidates:
• Degree in Engineering or Applied Physics with specialization in Mechanical Engineering, Atmospheric Sciences or Fluid Mechanics.
• Fluency in English.
• Familiar to autonomous work and as part of a team, with good writing and oral communication skills and analytical and interdisciplinary thinking.
